MONROE, Mich. — Firefighters are investigating a May 15 fire at a Monroe Charter mobile home park that killed a 2-year-old child.
Deputies from Monroe County Sheriff’s Office received a call around 12:50 a.m. of a structure fire with a child trapped in the 12:00 block of E. Outer Drive in Willow Green Mobile Home Park.
Crews who arrived at the scene entered the home and found a 2-year-old child. The child was taken to the nearest hospital, where he died from injuries sustained as a result of the fire.
Fire departments from Monroe Township, City of Monroe, Ida Township, LaSalle Township and Monroe Community EMS assisted.
The case remains under investigation by the Monroe County Fire Investigation Team and detectives with the Sheriff’s Detective Bureau. Anyone with information is asked to call the Detective Bureau at 734-240-7530.
