LIMA, OH (WLIO) – A shooting Thursday night in the 600 block of Avenue sent a woman to the hospital.

When officers arrived, they found Kelly Parsons, 21, of Freedom Center, Ohio, had been shot after an argument outside a home she was visiting.

Four or five juveniles approached the residence and when the conversation turned into an argument, one of the juveniles brandished a gun and began firing, striking Parsons. It is believed that more than 20 shots were fired in total. The gun was later recovered by police. Parsons was taken to Lima Memorial Health System with non-life threatening injuries.

The shooting was the result of an argument that broke out in front of a home she was visiting. Four or five juvenile males approached the house and started talking to the guests of the house. When the conversation turned into an argument, one of the juveniles brandished a firearm and began shooting. The juvenile suspects fled, but continued to shoot toward the home. More than 20 shots are believed to have been fired, and at least two houses and a car were hit by bullets.

Several eyewitnesses watched the juvenile males immediately before the shooting and flee after it. Officers followed up on information and tips that led to the recovery of a firearm from one of the suspects and the names of several juveniles. The Lima Police Department Task Force served a search warrant at a home in the 500 block of E. Eureka Street in an attempt to locate and detain the juveniles. However, no one was found in the residence. The Lima Police Department will continue to search for these individuals and continue to investigate.

Kelly Parsons was taken to Lima Memorial Health System for treatment. At the moment, her condition is unknown, but it is believed that her injuries are not life-threatening.
