The girl was shot in the house and died of her wounds at the hospital, police said.
Mansfield, Ohio – A teenage girl died after being shot dead in a house in Mansfield on Wednesday, police said.
The Mansfield Police Department said an unidentified woman who seemed upset called the 911 service around 9 a.m. and said “please send police” to a house on Stewart Avenue. The caller hung up before the dispatcher could get more information.
Police officers were sent to the house and heard gunshots as they tried to contact residents inside.
Officers immediately ordered residents to leave the house. According to police, two women came out on the porch. One of the women, who was 16, received a gunshot wound to the upper body.
Before the arrival of medics, rescuers began to work on the girl. Another woman was detained until the scene was safe, police said.
The girl was taken to hospital, where she later died of her injuries, police said.
The house was searched, operatives found a gun. Other evidence was gathered.
Police said there were no suspects in the shooting at the moment. Police do not say whether charges have been filed.
