NEWARK, Ohio – A Newark man was found guilty Friday of more than a dozen charges of sexually assaulting a young girl.

Jack Scott Jr., 32, of Newark, was found guilty of multiple counts of aggravated rape of a minor under the age of 10, gross sexual assault of a minor under the age of 13 and unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, according to a news release from Licking County District Attorney Jenny Wells. .

Wells said the investigation began on Nov. 7, 2022, when someone reported that the girl had been assaulted. The victim told investigators that Scott had been sexually assaulting her since she was 6 years old and had threatened to kill her.

Four witnesses, including the victim, testified against Scott during the two-day trial. He was convicted on all charges.

Scott was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
