A traveler with a hidden blade in tow was stopped at a checkpoint at Logan International Airport in Boston last week, the Transportation Security Administration said.
Agency spokesman Dan Veles tweets an image of a cane with a twisted handle, revealing a long blade inside.
The man was questioned by Massachusetts police after the opening last Tuesday, and he was allowed to walk through the airport as soon as he handed over his cane.

The TSA said the man apparently “had no idea” that the blade was present.
