Matthew Schiffert, 29, has been charged with five felonies after the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant on Friday.
OTTAWA COUNTY, Ohio — Law enforcement in Ottawa County arrested a 29-year-old man Friday after an Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) investigation led to the execution of a search warrant, authorities said.
In the press release Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office said the ICAC Task Force Program provided information on Matthew Shiffert, an Ottawa County resident and registered sex offender, in January 2023. That information led authorities to obtain a search warrant.
On Friday, the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office and the Ottawa County SWAT team executed a search warrant at a residence on West Moline Martin Road. Authorities said they seized several electronic devices linked to the information provided by ICAC.
Law enforcement took Schiffert into custody and transported him to the Ottawa County Jail. He is charged with one fourth-degree felony count of failure to register and four second-degree felony counts of pandering to a minor.
