An Idaho grand jury has indicted a suspect in the murders of four Idaho State University students. The previous meeting was cancelled.
MOSCOW, Idaho – An Idaho grand jury has indicted a man accused of killing four Idaho State University studentseliminating the need for a preliminary hearing.
The Latto County Circuit Court Clerk confirms this Brian Koberger will now appear in court on Monday, May 22 at 9:00 a.m., where he is likely to enter a guilty plea.
A Latta County Circuit Court clerk said a grand jury indicted Koberger on all counts. With the grand jury indictment, a preliminary hearing previously scheduled for June 26 was canceled.
An indictment means that the grand jury believes there is enough evidence for the case to go to trial. Idaho law requires the prosecution to prove sufficient evidence either through a grand jury or through a preliminary hearing.
We expect to hear more from the courts later on Wednesday.
Koberger is accused of stabbing and killing Ethan Chapin, Kayleigh Goncalves, Xana Kernodle and Madison Mogen in the early morning hours of November 13, 2022. He was was arrested at his family’s home in Pennsylvania on December 30, 2022and is currently awaiting trial in the Latah County Jail.
The police say DNA from a knife sheath left at the crime scene where four Idaho State University students were killed suspect Brian Koberger to crimes.
