A Cleveland City Planning Department employee has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of a preliminary disciplinary hearing after they made “concerning remarks” to two colleagues, a City Hall official confirmed to the Scene.
The official could not share much information about the comments or the employee, but said the incident was not related to recent attention on the department and its employees by the city’s 15-minute conspiracy theorists.
It wasn’t a “general threat,” an official told Scene, but the comments were serious enough to warrant immediate action.
City Hall is not operating any new heightened level of security following the incident per se, but enforcement of existing policies and measures — metal detectors, badges, bag checks — has been stepped up, the official said.
