10TV spoke with residents at the scene who say they saw everything.
Maddie Amilton and her husband say they’ve heard gunshots in the neighborhood before, but Saturday morning’s shooting was a different story.
“It was pretty scary,” Amilton said. “It sounded like a whole bunch of shots, maybe a dozen.”
Amilton says she saw two people lying on the ground and some people running and screaming. She wants more attention and security measures for her city.
“I just think that the communities that live in this area deserve a lot more and they deserve to be treated with respect and not just be forgotten about when something bad happens,” Amilton said.
Amilton says this raises concerns about the way shootings are normalized in today’s world.
“For us to wake up and go, oh, there was another mass shooting. This time, I’m not reading about it on my phone, I’m watching it happen on the other side of the street, and it seems very strange to me that we expected him to be numb by now, – said Amilton.
10TV reached out to the nightclub several times for comment, but they did not respond. We also contacted the city prosecutor’s office and asked for a report from the club.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Columbus Police Homicide Unit at 614-645-4730 or the Ohio Central Bureau of Investigation at 614-461-TIPS (8477).
