Megan Moroney is opening up about how her career in country music is impacting her personal life.

In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, Moroney, known for her hit song “Am I Okay?”, discussed how her intense focus on her music career has affected her romantic relationships.

“I’ve never been more dedicated to my career than I am now,” Moroney shared. “I really don’t have the time for a relationship right now. I think that’s reflected in my album. There are a couple of love songs that might be a bit hopeful, but they end quickly, which mirrors my recent love life. My focus is solely on my music and career at the moment.”

Moroney also expressed that she isn’t emotionally ready for a serious relationship. “I’m not in the right headspace to find someone to marry right now. It’s just not a priority for me at the moment, so I don’t want to waste anyone’s time,” she explained.

Moroney’s career skyrocketed with the viral success of her song “Tennessee Orange,” which gained popularity on TikTok in December 2022. Fans speculated it was about fellow country artist Morgan Wallen, adding to its buzz.

Reflecting on her unexpected viral success, Moroney noted, “You can’t predict when something will go viral. There are probably millions of great songs that don’t go viral but are still good.”

Since the release of her debut album in May 2023, Moroney’s fame has grown. She is currently touring with country legend Kenny Chesney, describing the experience as “the best summer ever” and expressing deep gratitude for his mentorship.

“He’s become a mentor and a close friend. I watch him perform every night, and he’s just that good. It’s amazing to see him perform so many hits,” Moroney said. “I grew up listening to him, so becoming friends with him now is really cool.”

Alongside touring, Moroney recently released her second studio album, “Am I Okay?,” which she describes as a more intense follow-up to her debut, “Lucky.”

“This album feels like a continuation of ‘Lucky’ but with more intensity. The happy songs are happier, and the sad ones are sadder. It includes new themes like a song about grief and one about my friends, which I’ve never done before,” Moroney explained. “I think there’s something for everyone, and it’s a chance for my fans to get to know me better.”

When discussing her songwriting process, Moroney said she aims to capture her genuine feelings. She was inspired to start writing music after switching her major from finance to digital marketing and music business.

“Growing up, I loved Taylor Swift and still do. Her music has been a huge influence on me. Kacey Musgraves inspired me with her songwriting, especially her album ‘Same Trailer, Different Park,’ and Miranda Lambert’s attitude has always resonated with me,” Moroney said.
