“After careful and thorough consideration of the facts and evidence documented in reports prepared by the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office and the Houston Police Department, as well as hearing testimony from witnesses, the Brazoria County Grand Jury refused to charge Deshan Watson with any crimes. Accordingly, this issue is closed, “said in a statement the District Attorney of the Brazoria County Tom Selek.

The decision comes in a few hours This was reported by the New York Times that a grand jury in the county of Brazoria was considering whether to bring charges against Watson in respect of one of the charges he had previously faced. Earlier this month, the Harris County Grand Jury dismissed nine criminal cases against Watson, but the 10th complaint, filed with the Houston Police Department, was found outside its jurisdiction, in Brazoria County.

Watson’s lawyer Rusty Hardin issued the following statement KHOU after the grand jury refused to charge:

“We are delighted that the Grand Jury of Brazoria County has dropped one accusation of crime from Deshan Watson. We have always known what people who learn about the facts know – Deshon did not commit any crimes. In fact, two separate grand juries now found that there was not even reason to believe that he had committed the crime.

“After the Harris County case was completed, we were informed that the Brazoria County intends to present its case to a grand jury on Wednesday, March 23rd. We and the applicant were offered the opportunity to provide any information we wish to the Grand Jury.

“It’s important to note that both Cleveland Brown and I knew that this grand jury presentation was expected, and tried not to discuss it publicly until it was completed. Now that the criminal investigation and two different grand jury presentations have been completed, I hope that the public and the media will take to heart the final statement from the letter of the Brazoria County Attorney, which reads: “Accordingly, this issue is closed.”

“It’s time to allow the civil process to proceed at its usual pace, and Dashon Watson to take his place as a defender of Brown’s future. I’m pretty sure the Cleveland community will find that Dashon Watson is not just a great defender, but also an incredibly decent man, whom they will be proud of for representing his city. ”
