The Flying Pig Marathon will take place on May 7, and other events will take place on May 5 and 6.

The Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon returns in 2023.

Along with the big marathon on May 7, additional events will be held on May 5 and 6 (including half marathon, which was recognized as the best in the country). New this year: participants with physical disabilities also had the opportunity to sign up for A 10km Handcycle Division and a Para-Athlete Division.

But with the fun comes lots and lots of planning, even for non-participants. A number of Cincinnati streets will be closed or detoured beginning May 5 during Flying Pig events, most notably May 7. See the full schedule of Flying Pig road closures May 5-7.

Here are the closures to look out for on the main race day:

Sunday, May 1, starting at 1 a.m.:

  • Second street
  • The Joe Nuxhall Way between Merring Way and Third Street
  • Broadway
  • Taylor’s Southgate Bridge
  • The Roebling Suspension Bridge is closed from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m
  • Clay Wade Bailey Bridge
  • Third Street between Guest Street and Central Avenue
  • Guest Street, north bound between Merring Way and Lynn Street
  • Seventh street between Central Avenue and Gilbert Avenue (vehicles from the garage at Seventh and Broadway will be allowed to exit onto Seventh Street and continue across Broadway to E. Seventh Street)
  • Exit to Seventh Street from SB I-75
  • Central avenue between Seventh Street and Sixth Street
  • Plum street between Eighth Street and Seventh Street
  • Elm Street between Sixth and Seventh Streets
  • Racing Street between Garfield Place and Seventh Street
  • Vine street between Sixth and Seventh Streets
  • Orehova street between Eighth Street and Seventh Street
  • Main street between Sixth and Seventh Streets
  • Sycamore Street between Eighth Street and Seventh Street
  • Broadway between Sixth and Seventh Streets
  • Gilbert Avenue northbound is closed between Seventh Street and MLK Drive
  • Gilbert Avenue between Elsinore Place and Eden Park Drive
  • Eden Park Drive between Gilbert Avenue and Victory Parkway
  • Fulton Avenue between Nassau Street and Eden Park Drive
  • Art Museum Drive between Ida Street and Eden Park Drive
  • Lake Drive
  • Northbound Victory Parkway is closed between Eden Park Drive and McMillan Avenue
  • McMillan Avenue between Victory Parkway and Woodburn Avenue
  • Woodburn Avenue between McMillan Avenue and Madison Road
  • Eastbound Madison Road is closed between Woodburn Avenue and Erie Avenue
  • Eastbound Erie Avenue was closed between Madison Road and Bramble Avenue
  • Northbound Paxton Avenue closed between Observatory Avenue and Erie Avenue
  • Eastbound Murray Avenue is closed between Erie Avenue and LaCrosse Avenue
  • Bramble Avenue eastbound was closed between Erie Avenue and Settle Avenue
  • US-50/Columbia Parkway is the only westbound shoulder lane between Cincinnati Corp. Line and Eastern Avenue off-ramp (US-50 westbound exit to Eastern Avenue closed)
  • Ramp from Red Bank Road to Columbia Parkway westbound
  • Eastern Avenue westbound is closed between Columbia Parkway and Stanley Avenue
  • Stanley Avenue southbound closed between Eastern Avenue and Kellogg Avenue
  • Kellogg Avenue westbound closed between Stanley Avenue and Worth Street
  • Eastbound Riverside Drive is closed between E. Pitt Rose Way and Worth Street
  • E. Pete Rose Way eastbound closed between Johnny Bench Way and Riverside Drive (may open earlier for garage access)
  • Meringue’s way between Central Ave and E Pete Rose Way
  • Eastbound Madison Road is closed between Victory Park and Woodburn Avenue
  • ML King eastbound is closed between Gilbert Avenue and Victory Park
  • Northbound Gilbert Avenue is closed between Eden Park Drive and ML King
  • Sinton Avenue between Gilbert Avenue and Nassau Street
  • Nassau Street between Sinton Avenue and Gilbert Avenue
  • Morris Street between Deerfield Place and Gilbert Avenue
  • Deerfield Place is closed to through traffic between Gilbert Avenue and Morris Street
  • Elsinore Place between Reading Road and Gilbert Avenue
  • Northbound Reading Road is closed between Central Park and Elsinore Place
  • Central Park between Eggleston Avenue and Vine Street
  • Eggleston Avenue southbound is closed between Central Park and E-Pitt-Rose Way
  • Eggleston Avenue northbound between Third Street and Broadway
  • Veterans Memorial Bridge is closed from 6 a.m. to 9:30 a.m
  • Fourth Street between Memorial Bridge and Clay-Wade-Bailey Bridge, closed from 6 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
  • The Clay Wade Bailey Bridge will reopen at 8:15 a.m

In addition, Metro posted bus stop detours along Flying Pig race routes.
