TALEDA, Ohio – I-75 NB is currently closed behind Ottawa River Road due to a police chase that ended in an accident with several cars early Thursday morning, killing one person.

The crash occurred on Highway I-75 north near Alexis Road.

Police were chasing someone down I-75 north. This driver drove onto a grassy area near the ramp on Alexis Road. The driver then turned around and drove in the wrong direction on the highway, then crashed into two semi-trailers, police said.

One of these semi-trailers caught fire, the driver of this semi-trailer was not injured.

The driver, who was being chased by the police, died as a result of the accident.

The car involved in the chase was torn to pieces. Part of the car was wrapped under the back of the semi-trailer.

75 will be closed for a few more hours.

Drivers should look for an alternative route.
