Jeff recalls: more than 40 varieties of peanut butter were affected

WASHINGTON – Recently purchased a jar of Jif Peanut Butter? Double-check the label: it may be related to a recent recall.

On Saturday, JM Smucker published a voluntary recall of more than 40 varieties of Jif products due to potential salmonella infection. According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)recalled peanut butter was distributed nationwide in retail stores and other outlets.

Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, the weak or the elderly, and other people with weakened immune systems. according to the FDA. In healthy people infected with salmonella, fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain are common.

Revoked products include the products below with lot codes 1274425 – 2140425. Lot codes are included along with the date of best use.
