COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Franklin County Coroner has released an autopsy report on a 6-month-old baby Kayer Thomaswho died weeks after he and his twin brother were found following a kidnapping in the Short North last year.
On Jan. 28, shortly before 11 p.m., officers were called to a home in the 900 block of East Whittier Street in southeast Columbus to find someone not breathing. Arriving officers found Ky’air unresponsive.
Ky’air was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:44 p.m.
According to the autopsy, the cause of death was ruled as sudden unexplained death of an infant with other significant conditions, including an unsafe sleep environment, which said the infant was placed face down unattended on an adult bed surrounded by extra pillows and blankets after feeding.

Kayer and his twin brother Cason were in the center Ohio AMBER Alert which gained national attention when they were kidnapped in December.
Police said the boys’ mother went to Donatos Pizza on North High Street to make a DoorDash order and left her car running and unlocked with the twins inside.
Nala Jackson, 24, was inside the restaurant when her mother entered. Jackson left through a side door of the restaurant and got into his mother’s car, police said.
Ky’air was found safe at Dayton International Airport hours after the abduction. A few days later, Cason was found safe and sound in Indianapolis.
Jackson was arrested in connection with the kidnapping and faces federal charges.
