Police arrested 28-year-old Terrell Stokes on Thursday and charged him with one count of murder. The charge is related to the shooting death of Superia Wilson.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – A man accused of killing a woman in her South Linden neighborhood home more than a year ago is now in custody.

Police arrested 28-year-old Terrell Stokes on Thursday and charged him with one count of murder. The charge is related to the July 16, 2021, murder of 31-year-old Superia Wilson.

Columbus Police Dept officers were called to the 2000 block of Grasmere Avenue on a ShotSpotter alert.

Arriving officers found Wilson suffering from gunshot wounds inside one of the homes. She was taken to Grant Medical Center, where she later died.

Police learned that Wilson and her boyfriend were outside the front porch when they saw a black vehicle parked outside. Then three men got out of the car and started shooting at the couple.

On Wednesday, the detective obtained laboratory information from the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network of Alcohol Tobacco Weapons and Explosives. A lead linked shell casings found during the shooting to a firearm that Stokes had purchased.

Court records say police discovered the firearm in September 2021 when Stokes was arrested on a domestic violence complaint.

The ATF conducted an “electronic tracking” check and found that Stokes purchased the gun on December 26, 2019. In June 2021, Stokes was told he could pick up his firearm at the police facility.

Stokes is being held at the Franklin County Correctional Center. He is scheduled to appear in Franklin County Municipal Court on Friday.
