Christian Gutierrez, 20, was sentenced by a Marion judge to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 28 years.

MARION COUNTY, OH – A man was sentenced to 28 years to life in prison after pleading guilty to aggravated manslaughter in Marion County on Friday, according to Marion County District Attorney Raymond Grogan.

Christian Gutierrez, 20, was sentenced by a Marion judge to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 28 years for the murder of 27-year-old Charles Felician.

On March 9, 2022, Marion Police responded to a shooting near the 340 block of North Main Street. When they arrived, they found Feliciano, who police said had been shot in the parking lot during an argument with another man.

He was taken to Marion General Hospital and later transported to Grant Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.

Police identified Gutierrez and Faith Scheitler as suspects in the case.

Gutierrez was arrested at the Quality Inn on Columbus Pike in Delaware after the incident. He was booked into a multi-county jail on a murder charge before being sentenced.

Scheitler was arrested and charged with obstruction of justice. She was also taken to the multi-county jail.

“One year ago last week, Christian Gutierrez killed Charles Feliciano in a church parking lot. It was deliberate and cold-blooded. Gutierrez has so far denied it. I was ready to ask the jury to send him to death row for his premeditated act of criminal cruelty. But today, Gutierrez admitted what the Marion police and my prosecution team have said all along – he is guilty of aggravated murder,” Grogan said.
