WASHINGTON – Many Wells Fargo customers are expressing their frustration after money disappeared from their online banking accounts on Friday morning.

The bank said in a statement that it is aware that “some customers’ direct deposit transactions are not reflected in their accounts, but the funds in the accounts are accurate and available.”

“We are working quickly on a solution and apologize for any inconvenience. Customer accounts are still safe,” Wells Fargo said in response.

The bank initially posted a message on its mobile app on Friday morning saying a “technical issue” could be the cause of customers seeing missing transactions or incorrect balances.
