It was an emotional scene when daughters Naomi Judd, Winona and Ashley, through tears took part in the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Nashville, Tenn – A day later her death at age 76Country star Naomi Judd was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame at an emotional ceremony full of tears, music and laughter.

Among the four winners of the evening were Judd, Ray Charles, Eddie Byers and Pete Drake. Garth Brooks, Trisha Godwood, Vince Gill and many others performed their hits during Sunday’s ceremony.

Jada the daughters announced her death Saturday, explaining in a statement that the country music star has died due to a “mental illness”. Naomi and Winona Judd were among the most popular duos of the 1980s, scoring 14 hits № 1 in their nearly three-year careers.

Winona and Ashley Judd accepted the introduction amid tears, holding on to each other and reading a Bible verse together.

“I’m sorry she hasn’t been able to hold out until today,” Ashley Judd said of her mother in the crowd, crying. Winona Judd spoke of the family reunion when they said goodbye to her, and she and Ashley Judd read Psalm 23.

“Although my heart is broken, I will continue to sing,” Winona Judd said.

The public red carpet for the medallion ceremony on Sunday night was canceled out of respect for Judd’s death. Fans still gathered near the museum, attracted by a white flower bouquet near the entrance and a small photo of Naomi Judd in the frame below. One rose was laid on the ground.

Juds has just announced that an arena tour will begin in the fall, their first joint tour in more than a decade. They also went back to the awards when they did performed at the CMT Music Awards earlier this month.

“Today, sisters, we have experienced a tragedy. We lost our beautiful mother due to a mental illness, ”the daughters said in a statement on Saturday. “We are broken. We are deeply saddened and know that as much as we loved her, so did the public. We are in unknown territory. ” The statement is not specified in more detail.

Naomi Judd died near Nashville, Tennessee, according to a statement on behalf of her husband and fellow singer Larry Strickland. It says no further details about her death will be released, and asks for privacy as the family mourns.
