Illinois officials say they are looking for a suspect after that a fire broke out at a Planned Parenthood facility in Peoria Sunday. They say no one was inside at the time of the fire and one firefighter suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Peoria police say they are looking for a truck that was seen on video leaving the scene.

“Senseless acts of vandalism have become more common across the country Illinois has become a target as extreme, divisive rhetoric grows” said Planned Parenthood of Illinois President and CEO Jennifer Welch. “This act of vandalism will have a devastating impact on the community’s ability to access birth control, cancer screenings and gender-based care.”

According to the National Abortion Federation, attacks on abortion providers increased by 128% in 2021. Many abortion clinics in the US also closed in 2022 after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.

CBS News reported back in June that the masked woman was captured on video Wyoming abortion clinic arson which they planned to open.

Additionally, the fire department ruled in December 2021 that a fire at an abortion clinic in Tennessee was set on purposeand that the site had previously been targeted by the same person. That’s what Knoxville officials say Mark Thomas Reno, 64, fired a shotgun at an abortion clinic in early 2021, shattering glass and leaving bullet holes in the reception area. The clinic was forced to close for several months to undergo a $2.2 million renovation.
