The family is safe after an abandoned house near them caught fire and spread flames to their home.
TALEDA, Ohio – Toledo fire brigades are battling two fires next to one in eastern Toledo on Sunday morning.
The two residences erupted around 5:30 a.m. on Delens Street near Plymouth Street in eastern Toledo. The first house that caught fire was abandoned. The fire then spread from an abandoned house to a neighboring house next to it.
At the time of the fire, the family was inside and in bed in the second house, but they were safely evacuated.
Last seen was the Toledo Fire and Rescue Service (TFD) in the fight against the flames.
The TFD has confirmed that the abandoned house will be demolished and about half of the second house will need to be replaced.
The cause of the fire is still being determined.
