WASHINGTON – Olivia and Liam have once again become the most common baby names in America. And Theodore joins Top 10 Baby Names for the first time.

The Social Security Administration annually tracks the names given to girls and boys in each state, and the names date back to 1880. The data is based on applications for social security cards.

Based on cultural and demographic trends, the list shows how names can grow and fall in popularity.

Liam has reigned five years in a rowwhile Olivia dismissed Emma as the best name in three years, according to a list of agencies released on Friday.

After Liam the most common names for boys are in the appropriate order: Noah, Oliver, Elijah, James, William, Benjamin, Lucas, Henry and Theodore.

And for the girls after Olivia: Emma, Charlotte, Amelia, Ava, Sophia, Isabella, Mia, Evelyn and Harper.

The most “fast-growing” children’s names, which mean the growth of popularity – it’s Amir for boys and Paradise for girls.

The most popular male names that have decreased are Jaxtyn, Karsyn and Xzavier. Various spellings of the name Denise have declined in popularity from 2020 to 2021.
