SPENCERVILLE – The Spencerville FFA Division participated in the 94th Annual FFA State Convention at the Ohio Exhibition Center in Columbus on May 5 and 6.

The Gold Medal Speaker Award was given to FFA Spencerville. Only 10% of FFA offices in the state have received this award. The Spencerville FFA also had 8 students who received state diplomas. The state degree is awarded to only 2% of FFA members nationwide. This year’s state diplomas went to Dominic Edkins, Megan Bowman, Emma Cor, Naya Hodge-Miller, Ryan Kaverman, Kaylee Kimet, Amy Price and Ethan Smith. Secretary Megan Bowman and Treasurer Emma Cor also received a gold rating in their officer books and were honored for their work.

Also at the FFA convention Spencerville received its state banner for participating in a state event to develop a career in biotechnology. The Spencerville team took 5th place overall after qualifying for the state-level competition in January. Team members were Emma Cor, Chloe Sharp, Kira Sharp and Emma Prine. This was the first time a team from Spencerville received a banner for a career in biotechnology.
