UWALDE, TX – Texas School District is closed amid reports of an active shooter.
Uvalde police say as of 13:06 CST, at the alleged shooter is in custody.
The The United Independent School District of Uwalde says An active shooter was reported Tuesday at Robb Elementary School. There are no direct reports of casualties.
Earlier in the district it was reported that all schools in the district were closed due to gunshots in the area.
The dispatcher of the Uwalde police department said that the scene was still active and that there was no other information at once. The department said on Facebook that people should avoid the area because it is an “active police scene”.
School and city authorities did not immediately respond to the message with a request to comment.
The district reported that the city’s community center will be used as a union center and that parents will be able to pick up their children there once everyone is taken into account.
Uwalde is approximately 85 miles (135 kilometers) west of San Antonio.
