In 2020, Schulenburg was diagnosed with breast cancer. Earlier this month she shared on Instagram that she was returning home on Mother’s Day after being discharged from the hospital. She told how she had to be sent home with an oxygen machine at the time.

“It’s not my ideal to be a 38-year-old mother who now needs an oxygen tank to survive. I want to be strong and beautiful for her.
