The deputy was helping Adrian City police search for the suspect when the shooting happened around 1:15 p.m.

ADRIAN, MICHIGAN – The Lenavi County Sheriff’s Deputy shot dead a suspect during a search of Adrian Sunday morning.

An unnamed MP has been placed on administrative leave, according to a statement released this morning by the sheriff’s office.

The incident began when Adrian’s police asked to help find a suspect who allegedly pulled out a gun in a residential area in the city.

At around 1:15 a.m., the deputy sheriff, who was sent to help Adrian to police, found the suspect hiding in an empty spot nearby, the sheriff’s office said.

The deputy shot the suspect, who was taken to hospital in critical condition, the sheriff’s office said.

The MP, who is a 31-year-old veteran, was not injured. Michigan State Police will investigate the incident.
