The group will play a total of nine shows at The Blarney in downtown Toledo on Friday, March 17, starting at 8 a.m.
TOLEDO, Ohio — Fire trucks and bugles — The Toledo Fire Museum on West Sylvania Avenue in west Toledo echoes the sounds that will be heard throughout the city tomorrow.
The Toledo Firefighters Trumpets and Drums is gearing up for its annual performances during St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.
“It’s an opportunity for us to spread the good vibes,” said Jerry Mazur, drummer for TFRD Pipes & Drums.
The TFRD Pipes & Drums started back in 2003, inspired by pipers who performed and supported their firefighter brothers and sisters who died during 9/11.
TFRD Pipes & Drums currently has 20 members. They play bagpipes and different types of drums.
The band usually plays at funerals or special events, so they’re very happy to have an upbeat spirit on St. Patrick’s Day.
“It’s not just a sad event,” Mazur said. “It’s a chance for everyone to come out and just have a great time.”
