Police are looking for three men who have been charged with murder in the September 23 death of Mario Copeland.

COLUMBUS, OH – Columbus Police Dept has charged three men with murder in the fatal shooting of a man last month in the Linden area.

Arrest warrants have been issued for 31-year-old Rayshawn Rogers, 34-year-old Christian Capers and 35-year-old Damon Capers in the death of 38-year-old Mario Copeland, according to police.

Copeland was found with a gunshot wound in the 1200 block of East Hudson Street on September 23.

He was taken to Grant Medical Center, where he died a short time later. His death was the 102nd homicide in Columbus this year.

Copeland was standing in an alley just south of East Hudson Street when he was confronted by a group of men, police said. One of the men pulled out a gun and shot Copeland several times. The group then fled the scene.

According to police, Copeland’s family and friends believe he sold the drugs to Letasha Streeter, which led to her overdose death. Streeter is a possible relative of Rogers.

Police are asking anyone who was present at the overdose involving Streeter to contact the homicide unit at 614-645-4730.

In addition, police are asking the public to help identify three persons of interest who detectives would like to interview in connection with Copeland’s death.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Columbus Police Homicide Unit at 614-645-4730 or the Ohio Central Bureau of Investigation at 614-461-TIPS (8477).

UPDATE: The Columbus Police Department has made an arrest 26-year-old Devon Robinson after he appeared on Tuesday. Court records say he confessed to the detective about his role in Copeland’s shooting. Surveillance video shows Robinson pull out a firearm and shoot Copeland multiple times.
