Even though they work next door, officers say they can’t see or hear it all, and they’re hoping you can be their eyes and ears.
TOLEDO, Ohio — If you have a new idea to improve the quality of your neighborhood, the Toledo Police Department is asking you to share it with them.
TPD created Quality of life communities to help guide their 2023 initiatives. They say their plan is to replace crime with a greater presence and engagement with the community. The idea is that Toledoans spend most of their days in the neighborhood, so they get to see more than the average police officer who drives around different neighborhoods while on duty.
Even though they work next door, officers say they can’t see or hear it all, and they’re hoping you can be their eyes and ears.
“When our community comes to these meetings, they can better tell us what they’re feeling — what they’re seeing because they live there, they’re there 24 hours a day,” said Lt. Paul Davis with TPD. “So we need them to partner with us on this and tell us their concerns and concerns and comments and maybe how we can make things better,” Davis said.
He says that the department cannot change the city on its own.
“So we need them to partner with us on this and tell us their concerns, their concerns and their comments and maybe how we can make things better,” he said.
Community quality of life meetings are also created to focus on environmental conservation. TPD wants residents to report crime in the community, as well as abandoned cars, littering, hazards and more.
TPD says if you have an idea that could improve the quality of your neighborhood, they’re ready to hear from you.
