The road was closed for about four hours while officials conducted an investigation.

Richland County, Ohio, Ohio – Two people were killed in a car crash on Saturday night in Richland County.

According to the Ohio State Road Patrol, the military responded to a reported crash on Interstate 71 South in the town of Mifflin just before 12 p.m.

A 2010 Liberty jeep was driving north on I-71 when the driver lost control and drove into the south lane of I-71 and was hit by a tractor.

The jeep crashed into a fence and caught fire. Before resting, the tractor crashed into a fence.

Two people in the jeep, 18-year-old Alison McCourt of Canton and 25-year-old Evan Friend, also of Canton, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Two people inside the trailer were not injured.

The OSHP said McCort and a friend were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

I-71 to the south was closed for about four hours while authorities investigated the crash and crews removed debris.
