VAN WERT — The Van Wert County Sheriff’s Office has received more than $38,000 in federal traffic safety funding through the Ohio Office of Traffic Safety.

Sheriff Thomas Riggenbach said the grant funds will be used to provide additional personnel and time to focus on making the roads safer in Van Wert County. The $38,117.70 receipt for fiscal year 2023 marks the second time the Van Wert County Sheriff’s Office has received National Highway Traffic Safety Administration funds for traffic enforcement measures.

“To help save lives and make our roads safer, the Van Wert County Sheriff’s Office will use the grant funds to focus on traffic-related fatalities, alcohol-related crashes, and distracted/distracted driving on major highways highways and local roads in Van Worth County,” Rigenbach said.
