Facebook, owned by Meta, continues to be one of the top choices for content creators. The social media giant hosts thousands of creators looking to get their content/product to reach the right audience.

While other platforms like TikTok and YouTube have options you can use to pay your favorite creators, Facebook isn’t far behind. The idea behind Facebook Stars is to help content creators earn money. This feature can help deepen the connection between creators and followers. It also allows people to monetize their content and move towards a more web-centric business strategy. The Stars feature is currently only available for some pages in some regions.

How does Facebook Stars work?
Users can buy Facebook stars and send them to their favorite creators in the comments section. Creators are paid one cent for each star earned.

Subscribers can also type “!” in the comment box next to the content to enter the number of stars they want to give.

What creators need to do to enable Facebook Stars:

  • Go to Creator Studio on Facebook and select the monetization option.
  • Read and accept the terms and conditions and create a payout account by following the instructions below.
  • Go to Stars under Monetization and set it up.

Creators should note that they can only include stars if their content complies with Facebook’s Partner Monetization Policy. Creators should also keep some additional points in mind for monetized content. For example, they cannot use music unless they have specific rights to do so. Also, according to Facebook, they must initially enable Stars on desktop, not mobile.

Other features:
Creators can also receive stars from Reels, Live Streams, and VOD. You can also set a Stars goal to help your followers contribute more. There are two types of Stars goals you can set – page level and video level. These goals can offer incentives to subscribers, such as exclusive behind-the-scenes video content, if they help a creator earn a certain number of stars during a live stream.
