After a high-profile near-record jackpot this summer, Mega Millions is back on the upswing. Powerball is not far behind.
Mega Millions was played on Tuesday night, with a jackpot of approximately $380 million. The winning numbers were 15-18-25-33-38 and the Mega Ball was 25 with Megaplier 2.
To win the Mega Millions jackpot, a player must match all five numbers correctly, as well as the golden Mega Ball number. The next drawing of the game will take place on Friday evening.
Regardless of the size of the jackpot, the odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot remain slim at one in 302.5 million.
This isn’t the only game with a growing prize this week. The latest Powerball jackpot grew to $353 million in Wednesday night’s drawing.
Both games have a smaller cash option for winners who want a lump sum — currently $198.4 million for Mega Millions and $185.6 million for Powerball. Most jackpot winners choose cash instead of the full annuity.
The last Mega Millions jackpot was a near-record $1.377 billion won in late July. Two people came forward last month to receive this prize, but chose to remain anonymous.
While Mega Millions has the most recent hype, Powerball is said to hold the world record for the largest jackpot with a whopping $1.586 billion won in 2016.
