In addition, it will increase energy efficiency, spectrum efficiency and network efficiency. 5G technology will help connect billions of IoT devices, enable better video services with high-speed mobility, and enable critical services such as telesurgery and autonomous cars, among others.
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, or BSNL, will launch its 5G service by August next year, IT minister Ashwini Vaishnav said on the sidelines of the Indian Mobile Congress 2022 this week. “BSNL will provide 5G services next year from August 15,” he was quoted as saying in several reports.
He noted that India will have three private and one public telecom player in the 5G arena, adding that 5G plans will remain available to subscribers. He also talked about providing 5G services in 200 cities in the next 6 months and 5G coverage to 90 percent of the country in the next two years.
Airtel launched its 5G service in some parts of India just a few days ago and the telco said it will cover the whole of India with its 5G network by 2024. Jio plans to cover most of the country with 5G service by December this year. Vodafone Idea also plans to launch 5G, but has not given an exact timeline for its availability to consumers.
