LIMA — A Columbus Grove man was killed in a single-vehicle crash late Saturday in Monroe.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, at approximately 10:06 p.m., Todd M. Donaldson, 46, of Columbus Grove was driving a pickup truck north on Stewart Road south of Hook Waltz Road when his vehicle began to drive on the right side of the roadway. After returning to the roadway, Donaldson’s vehicle spun and went completely off the right side of the roadway, striking a utility pole and coming to rest in a field.

Donaldson was pronounced dead at the scene. At the time of the accident, he was not wearing a seat belt, it is suspected that the cause of the accident was alcohol, according to the traffic police. Cairo-Monroe Fire and EMS, American Electric Power and the Allen County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene.

The accident remains under investigation.
