According to Franklin County Municipal Court records, Kevon Brown, 26, is charged with assault.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – A Franklin County Jail inmate is accused of assaulting and strangling a deputy.

In accordance with Franklin County Municipal Court records, Kevon Brown, 26, is charged with assault.

The incident occurred Sept. 22 when a deputy escorted Brown, who had been arrested earlier that day for domestic violence, to a housing unit at the Jackson Pike facility.

The deputy advised Brown to get a rug from the top of the pile, but Brown said he would take whatever he wanted. Brown then took the bottom checkmate, causing the stack to fall.

The deputy ordered Brown to face a wall to handcuff him when he turned toward the deputy and began physically assaulting him, according to court records.

Brown then allegedly choked the deputy and refused to let go

The detective said Brown denied the assault in interviews, but the incident was caught on surveillance camera.

Brown is scheduled to appear in court Monday morning.
