Don’t like carrying business ID? Here’s how to download them on WhatsApp

DigiLocker, the official government app to store your identity documents like driving license, Aadhaar card, PAN card and other documents, is a lifesaver for those who often forget to carry their belongings. DigiLocker is an app on your phone that holds electronic versions of all your valid IDs and certificates. Now, while DigiLocker itself is a popular app, users can also get DigiLocker services on their WhatsApp. Here’s how:

So on WhatsApp, DigiLocker works through the MyGov Helpdesk chatbot on the Meta-owned instant messaging app. With MyGov’s helpdesk chatbot, users can easily download any document from their DigiLocker on their WhatsApp. The MyGov WhatsApp chatbot works through a single phone number that you can save on your phone to use a variety of official services on your WhatsApp.

• Step 1 – Save the phone number +91 9013151515 as the MyGov helpline number in your phone.
• Step 2 – Open WhatsApp and open the MyGov support chat.
• Step 3 – Type “Hello” or “Namaste” in the chat.
• Step 4 – The chatbot will now give you two options – access DigiLocker services or access Co-WIN on WhatsApp.
• Step 5 – Click DigiLocker, then click Yes if you have a DigiLocker account.
• Step 6 – The chatbot will now ask you for your 12-digit Aadhaar number to link your DigiLocker account.
• Step 7 – You will now receive an OTP on your registered phone number for authentication. Enter this one-time password in the chat.
• Step 8 – The chatbot will now display all the documents you have saved on DigiLocker. They will be numbered.
• Step 9 – Now, no matter what document or ID you want, just send a message with the serial number in front of it and the chatbot will send you a PDF file for your ID.

With the MyGov Helpdesk chatbot on WhatsApp, you can only download one document at a time. Only documents issued from DigiLocker can be downloaded. DigiLocker was launched back in 2015 as an official government app for creating electronic versions of your official IDs. DigiLocker works with your Aadhaar number, so to enroll in the program, you need to enroll using your Aadhaar number.
