According to a new report, Google Chrome is the most dangerous web browser. As of this year, 303 vulnerabilities have been discovered in Chrome, for a total of 3,159 vulnerabilities.
According to the Atlas VPN report, these numbers are based on data from the VulDB vulnerability database, which covers the period from January 1, 2022 to October 5, 2022.
Google Chrome is the only browser with new vulnerabilities in five days of October. The latest include CVE-2022-3318, CVE-2022-3314, CVE-2022-3311, CVE-2022-3309, and CVE-2022-3307.
The CVE program tracks security flaws and vulnerabilities across platforms. The database does not yet have detailed information about these flaws, but the report says that they can cause damage to the computer’s memory.
Users can fix this by updating Google Chrome to version 106.0.5249.61.
The Mozilla Firefox browser ranks second in terms of vulnerabilities, with 117 of them.
As of October 5, Microsoft Edge had 103 vulnerabilities, a 61 percent increase from all of 2021. In total, it has had 806 vulnerabilities since its release.
Next comes Safari, which has some of the lowest levels of vulnerabilities. For example, it had 26 vulnerabilities in the first three quarters of 2022, bringing the total number of vulnerabilities since release to 1,139, the report said.
Meanwhile, in 2022, the Opera browser had no documented vulnerabilities and only 344 vulnerabilities.
As of May 2022, Safari has surpassed one billion users, and Apple is working hard to make sure its browser is safe and secure to use.
