The Buckeyes travel to the Spartans for the first time this season.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – After hitting five straight home games to start the season, Ohio State hits the road.

The first stop takes them to another school up north in Michigan.

This will be the 51st meeting between the Buckeyes and the Spartans on Saturday.

Without further ado, here are 10 things to know this week.

1. In 2022, Ohio State scored a touchdown in 18 of 20 quarters and in 12 consecutive quarters. Ryan Day’s teams had previous streaks of 19 (2019), 16 (2019-20) and 15 (2020).

2. The Buckeyes rank first in the nation with 100% success in the red zone (25 of 25). Ohio State leads with 23 red-zone touchdowns and is one of two (Oregon) with more than 10 red-zone touchdowns.

3. Ohio State was particularly strong in the first and third quarters. The Buckeyes are outscoring their opponents 84-20 in the first quarter and 70-13 in the third quarter.

4. CJ Stroud has passed for over 150 yards and a pass in all 17 games he’s started at Ohio State and has multiple touchdown passes in 15 games.

5. Ohio State ranks second in the nation with 37 plays of 20 or more yards this season. 21 of those 37 plays went for 30+ yards, tied for the most in the nation.

6. Bucks is behind only TCU with an average of 8.02 yards per game.

7. After starting the season 2-0, the Spartans have lost three straight games, including Big Ten Conference losses against Minnesota and Maryland.

8. Ohio State leads the all-time series against Michigan State 35-15 and has won six straight contests.

9. The Spartans have defeated a top-five Ohio State team five times, including two wins over No. 1-ranked Ohio State in 1974 and 1998. Eight of Michigan State’s 15 wins in that series have come over nationally ranked Ohio State.

10. The sides have averaged 43.2 points per game in their last five meetings. Meanwhile, Ohio State’s defense limited MSU to just 7.6 points per game.
