The Joe Barrow Foundation will provide resources and support to low-income and underserved communities in Ohio and Louisiana, according to a release.

cincinnati – Cincinnati Bengals On Tuesday, defense attorney and Athens County native Joe Burrow launched a nonprofit foundation aimed at helping families struggling with food insecurity and children’s mental health issues.

The Joe Barrow Foundation will provide resources and support to low-income and underserved communities in Ohio and Louisiana, according to a release.

In 2020, Burrow gave a remarkable Heisman Trophy speech in which he spoke about poverty in Southeast Ohio, resulting in more than half a million dollars in donations to the Athens County Food Pantry.

“I believe that everyone has an obligation to do good,” Barrow said. “We will build on our food insecurity efforts by also finding ways to offer support in Greater Cincinnati, other parts of Ohio, Baton Rouge and Louisiana,” Burrow said.

Joe’s parents, Jimmy and Robin, founded the foundation with their son. Jimmy will serve as vice president and Robin as secretary and treasurer.

“Words cannot express how proud we are of Joe and his many talents,” Jimmy said. “His commitment to improving the lives of those less fortunate is especially important to our family.”

“As an elementary school teacher and principal, I see kids grow and succeed every day,” Robin said. “I also understand the stress and challenges that students and their families face. We strive to bring people and resources together to help make a difference. We hope you can join us on this journey.”
