Ian, which hit the United States twice as a hurricane, left many areas unrecognizable after it caused catastrophic flooding, strong winds and a devastating storm surge in Florida and the Carolinas. on wednesday Ian went ashore in southwest Florida as a Category 4 hurricane. Rushing across the peninsula and out into the Atlantic Ocean, the storm did second landfall — this time as a Category 1 hurricane — in South Carolina on Friday.
