On Wednesday, Kenny’s family and loved ones gathered at City North Church in Sunbury to lift him up in prayer.

SUNBURY, OH – Big nut community held a vigil for an 11-year-old boy Wednesday night after he was seriously injured during a neighborhood homecoming parade last week.

Kenny’s family and loved ones gathered at City North Church in Sunbury to lift him up in prayer.

Amanda Stepp, Kenny’s mother, said the community has been very grateful and supportive of the family since the incident.

Last Friday, Kenny walked alongside a Ford F350 pulling a float on a trailer. The Ohio State Highway Patrol said he was struck by the tires on the trailer after the fall.

Kenny’s family has since said he underwent surgery to treat an aneurysm at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. He also has a lacerated liver, a collapsed lung, several broken ribs and several facial fractures.

“I just want my little boy to keep fighting, to keep fighting every day,” Stepp said.

Kenny continues to make progress every day. Steph said as her boy finally opened his eyes a little and smiled.

The church’s pastor, Andrew Scholz, said people who don’t know Kenny have been praying for him and hoping he gets better.

“We believe that God is able to heal. He created, he can, he heals, he can do everything,” said Scholz. “If one person hurts here, everyone hurts.”

Kenny’s next surgery is scheduled for Thursday morning.

The family has set up a GoFundMe, which has already raised more than $88,000. If you are interested in donating, click here here.
