FAIRLAWN (AP) — A man has been arrested after a gun was reported at a shopping center in suburban Akron, authorities said. No casualties have been reported.

Law enforcement stormed the Summit Mall in Fairlawn shortly before 3:00 p.m. Sunday after reports of a firearm being fired inside near the food court, the Akron Beacon Journal reported.

Fairlawn police said shortly before 4 p.m. Sunday that the threat of an active shooter had passed and people could leave. A dispatcher told the newspaper that the man was detained but not arrested, and police believe no one was injured.

Customers took to social media seconds after the shooting to write about their frantic escape from the mall and warn others to stay away, the newspaper reported.
