COLUMBUS, Ohio – A fight that started during a football game at Marion-Franklin High School in south Columbus led to a shooting outside the school Thursday night.

According to police, officers were called to the high school on Koebel Road around 8:10 p.m

A spokesman for Columbus City Schools said a fight broke out between Marion-Franklin High School and Columbus Africentric Early College during a football game at the school shortly before halftime. Then the fight stopped.

About five minutes later, the spokesman said shots were fired outside the venue where the game was being played.

Arriving officers found shell casings on the east side of the school building, but did not say how many. As of 8:30 p.m., there were no casualties, the police said.

A CCS spokesman said they believe the people involved in the altercation are young adults who are not affiliated with the school district that did the shooting. CCS students did not participate.

There have been no arrests yet.

The game was stopped before halftime. A district spokesman said officials are looking into when the game might be completed.
